The Karachi Port handled 152,878 tonnes of cargo comprising 125,692 tonnes of import cargo and 27,186 tonnes of export cargo including 9,045 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 125,692 tonnes comprised of 82,222 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,360 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 40,110 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 27,186 tonnes comprised of 17,934 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of bulk cargo; 8,832 tonnes of clinkers and 220 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 9,045 containers comprising of 6,580 containers import and 2,465 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,379 of 20's and 2,198 of 40's loaded while 355 of 20's and 225 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 575 of 20's and 154 of 40's loaded containers while 358 of 20's and 612 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were two ships namely Torm Atlantic and Oriental Sakura carrying oil tanker and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were nine vessels viz. CMA CGM Mumbai, Cosco Japan, Ubena, Botany Bay, Cosco Hong Kong, YM Bamboo, Pacific Sarah, Butinah and Sam Lion carrying containers, oil tanker, rock phosphate and clinkers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM


A cargo volume of 175,713 tonnes comprising 127,713 tonnes of import cargo and 48,000 tonnes of export cargo including 3,016 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 127,713 tonnes includes 48,748 tonnes of coal; 5,436 tonnes of palm oil; 50,533 tonnes of diesel oil; 650 tonnes of LPG; 7,684 tonnes of steel coil; 4,000 tonnes of chemical and 10,659 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 48,000 tonnes includes 1,355 tonnes of cement and 46,645 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,016 containers comprising of 561 containers import and 2,455 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There are six ships namely MOL Globe, CPO Bremen, Al-Kyani-SB, Clipper Helen, MT Al-Salam-II and Ginga Hawk carrying containers, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively expected to sail on Thursday afternoon.

A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, cement, coal, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as seventeen vessels viz. Seacon-8, CS Fortune, W-Star, Johnny-P, BTG Kailash, Venture Dylan, Young Glory, Asia Zirconi, Thor Insuvi, IVS North Berwick, First Bridge, Mahboobah, Fuwarit, Tomson Gas, Junoir-G, NCC Sana and Ginga Hawk carrying steel coil, general cargo, soyabean, canola, coal, rice, cement, chemical, LNG, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six ships viz. Hansa America, APL Antwerp, Venture Dylan, Fuwarit, Tomson Gas and NCC Sana carrying containers, coal, LNG, LPG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.

There was one ship namely Hansa America carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday, while another ship namely Cosco Japan carrying containers is due to arrive on Friday.
